JUDGES LISTS 2009

A1 List

Indicates persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have the support of The Border Terrier Club

CRITERIA:

All Judges

       To have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates to the breed, have carried out the appointment and have the support of the club.

A2 List

CRITERIA: For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of The Border Terrier Club.

A3 List

Indicates persons who the Club would support as being suitable to award CCs in the breed but not yet approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 List

CRITERIA:

A3 List Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       Been active in Border Terriers for a minimum of 10 years.

       A minimum of 7 years experience of judging the breed.

       Judged at least 1 Breed Club Show and/or 2 Breed Club Supported Entry Shows at each of which at least 40 Border Terriers were entered and present.

       Judged at least 250 Border Terriers in breed classes over an adequate geographic spread of venues.

       To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on the Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (K.C. Policy as of 1.7.2001)

       To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. (K.C. Policy as of 1.7.2001)

       To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the 'Hands on' assessment of judges' knowledge of Conformation and Movement, covering Points of the Dog, The Structure of the Dog and The Conventional Measurements of the Dog. (KC Policy as of 1.1.2007 for A3 Breed Specialists lists)

       To have attended at least two breed specific seminars run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and the applicant passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable - KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

       Been an owner or breeder of at least 3 Border Terriers when these dogs obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances)

       Stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at either Open or Championship shows.

 

A3 List Non-Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       A minimum of 5 years experience of judging the breed.

       Judged at least 1 Breed Club Show and/or 2 Breed Club Supported Entry Shows at each of which at least 40 Border Terriers were entered and present.

       Judged at least 200 Border Terriers in breed classes over an adequate geographic spread of venues.

       Attended at least 1 seminar on the Border Terrier Breed Standard

       Passed a Border Terrier breed examination or assessment if applicable

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

       Been an owner or breeder of at least 3 dogs of any breed when these dogs obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances.)

       Been approved to award CCs to at least 1 other breed and have done so on at least 3 occasions.

B List

Indicates persons who have been approved by the Border Terrier Club to judge the breed at Open Shows or at Championship Shows without CCs and have completed the Club's questionnaire.

CRITERIA:-

B List Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       Been active in Border Terriers for a minimum of 5 years

       A minimum of 2 years experience of judging the breed.

       Judged at least 30 Border Terriers in breed classes.

       Attended at least 1 seminar on the Border Terrier Breed Standard

       Stewarded over a minimum of 2 days at Open or Championship level.

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

B List Non Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       A minimum of 5 years experience of judging any other breed

       Judged at least 30 Border Terriers in breed classes.

       Attended at least 1 seminar on the Border Terrier Breed Standard.

       Been placed and currently remain on the A or B List of a breed club for at least 1 other breed.

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

C List

Persons included on the C List are aspirant judges who do not fall into any of the previous categories and who have completed the Club's questionnaire

CRITERIA:

Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       Been active in Border Terriers for at least 3 years.

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

Non-Specialist Judges

To have the support of the club and have:

       A minimum of 3 years experience of judging any other breed.

       Been placed and currently remain on the A, B or C List of a breed club for at least 1 other breed.

       Judged at least 12 Border Terriers in breed classes.

       Submitted an application/questionnaire if requested to do so.

       Undertaken to write show critiques as customarily requested by the weekly dog press.

 

Lists prepared following Judges Sub Committee meeting 19 October 2008, by Kathy Wilkinson, Hon Sec, The Border Terrier Club 21 October 2008          

Following full Committee approval, sent to The Kennel Club 20 November 2008 and approval of Criteria received 15 December 2008.

Lists of names, addresses and telephone numbers of Judges sent to members with their AGM agendas and will be posted to Secretaries of all General Canine Societies, all Terrier Clubs and other Canine Societies in the UK on request during the year.

Lists will not be posted to anyone other than Club Secretaries, nor will they be e-mailed, for security and Data Protection Act purposes.

The criteria for Judging lists is currently under review by all 7 UK Border Terrier Clubs and any amendments to the criteria (to be applied to future lists) will be submitted to the Kennel Club for approval in due course and published on this website as soon as possible after Kennel Club approval received, if appropriate.
